What is the Coordinated Science Program?
The Coordinated Science Program (CSP) is an alternative to
standard first year science, suitable for students who have
broad scientific interests and want to explore
the sciences in a community of like-minded students. All CSP students attend the same
sections of specific core science courses in Biology, Chemistry,
Physics, and Math, and may participate in the Computer Science option if desired. In addition, the Program provides a weekly CSP Workshop with hands-on activities that reinforce coursework or support development of general academic skills such as problem solving and communication. With a class size of under thirty students, CSP Workshop enables students to work in small groups that facilitate formation of friendships and academic learning groups.
Community
With a CSP study space in the I.K. Barber Learning Centre, the small group workshop and common enrollment in specific sections of core science courses, CSP
students feel part of a small social and learning community
within the 1600 first year science students at UBC.
Enthusiastic Professors
CSP also has enthusiastic, approachable professors and lecturers
who inspire students to learn scientific concepts at a fundamental
level.
Act Now
Registration in CSP is limited to 168 students on a first-come,
first-served basis.
