CSP Credit Total
The Standard Timetable (STT) includes 26 science credits. Of these, 3 credits are for the optional Phys 102 course and 3 credits are for Biol 112 (optional) or Biol 111 (required for students who have not completed high school biology). A student may request that the CSP Office remove Biol 112 and/or Phys 102 from his/her timetable after registration in CSP is completed. The required
portion of the Computer Science Option STT includes at least 23
credits, depending on which of Biol 121, Biol 140, Chem 123, and the optional Phys 102
is chosen.
Registration Guidelines for 2011-2012
For students without Physics 12:
Students should read answer to Frequently Asked Question #10
For Computer Science Option:
Students should read answer to
Frequently Asked Question #6
i) Prior to your registration date, visit the online UBC Student Services Centre (SSC) and choose a CSP standard timetable
(STT) plus elective courses in order to create a conflict-free timetable.
It is advisable to create alternate schedules in case your first
choice STT and/or elective sections are full. Create preferred and alternate worklists to make registration as simple as possible.
ii) Make a note of the 5-digit catalog number for your chosen STT,
and of the course and section number for each of your electives
(Links to the STTs are shown at the bottom of this page).
iii) On your registration date (July 2011) access the online SSC, and login with your UBC student number
and PIN.
iv) Once you have successfully logged in to the SSC, choose 'Registration'
from the list of buttons on the left of the page.
v) To register in CSP, select the 2011W session, click on the 'Add
Standard Timetable' button, and enter the 5-digit catalog number
for the STT of your choice. This will register you for all required
CSP lecture sections, labs, tutorials, and the CSP workshop.
vi) To register in your elective courses, select the 2011W session,
click on the 'Add/Drop Sections' button, and enter the appropriate
course and section numbers. Be sure to register for all activities
for each course if applicable (lectures, labs, tutorials, discussion
groups).
vii) Computer Science Option (CSO) students should follow the instructions in Frequently Asked Questions #6 for timetable choices and/or timetable modifications required to fit in CS courses.
viii) Check your registration by clicking on the Timetable button
in the SSC.
ix) Ensure that a valid email address is on your record by clicking
on the Email Change button. Email is an important means of communication
in CSP.
x) After registering in a CSP timetable, anyone who might need the Standard Timetable (STT) modified should contact the CSP office. Examples include those without
Calculus 12, those with Advanced Placement credits, or those wishing to have the CSP Office drop a Biology 111, 112 or Physics 102 course from the STT.
Standard Timetables
Registration in CSP involves standard timetables (STTs). Each STT will register you in all required CSP lectures, labs, associated tutorials and CSP workshop. As well, the STT will register you in the optional BIOL 112 (STTs A-H) or BIOL 111 (STTs G-J) and Physics 102 (all STT's). You still need to register for any elective courses – e.g. English. You must register for your elective courses separately.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Students registering in the Coordinated Science Program must take the complete set of required CSP courses. The only allowable exceptions are that you may drop or substitute ONE course ONLY per term if you have advanced credit in Biology, Chemistry, Math or Physics, or to include Math 180 in place of Math 100, or for courses not required for Computer Science Option students. For more information about this, see the Frequently Asked Questions.
